I am a senior in a high school yeshiva and it has been the most moving experience of my life. i wanted to tell you how amazing it feels to know that there are people like you who aren't even jews like me, that can create such a heartfelt connection to someting that your people arent connected to. I actually went to on my trip in the middle of January. The weather was below zero and snow up to my knees. But that didnt stop us from visiting all the places that you saw and more. warsaw, krakow, zamosc, treblinka, majdonik, auschwitz, birkrenau, ghettos, cemeteries, synogogues and more... i feel that i got the effect of how the inmates of all the death camps suffered the cold weather. I was shivering in six layers, and they hardly had one. Comments: I have been to Auschwitz on a trip to help teachers to teach the Holocaust but I have found it very difficult to even begin to impart the knowledge and emotion I felt whilst there for meyself. It is a very strong personal reaction which leads me to believe that the only way to even half understand, is to visit these powerful places for yourself. If anyone has any ideas bout how I could begin to teach my students, I would be very grateful. Also, in response to a message asking about if it was possible to see where Mengele worked, the answer is that there is a block at Auschwitz where he operated that you can visit and hear about the horrifying 'work' he carried out. Thanks for the website, it helped me to tap into all those feelings I had when I visted for myself.

Comments: I thoroughly enjoyed this site and will come to it again. I have an assignment, a collage, for my english class on the Holocaust because we're reading "The Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom. I obtained much information and pictures to use, I liked the pic with the man and his torso and arm symbolizing the swatstika. It saddens me to know that such events happened in history. What people will do, and not do, is horrifying. Let us hope history doesn't repeat itself. If anyone else has anymore good sites or information about the Holocaustit would be greatly appreciated. Comments: I've been studying the holocaust for soe time and I found your web site very interesting and would like to know more about your trip to the camp. Another thing is you sould get pictures of the clothing,shoes,etc that people had in the camps. Also that there were things called mass graves thats graves were people were never heard from such as pits were they would put people when they would be shot. Last you should also say how they treated people if they were sick,old a child for example they would do experiments on pregnant woman people should know ever thing about the holocaust so that it doesn't happen again.

In looking at the pictures from Auschwitz, I was reminded of my HS boyfriend who I dated for 2 years: He was jewish and lost family members to the holocaust.
